What Is Guacamole

Guacamole is a traditional Mexican dip made from ripe avocados. It’s typically seasoned with fresh lime juice, diced onions, cilantro, seasonings, and jalapenos for a burst of flavor. Guacamole can be served as a delicious dip, spread, or as a topping for taco night, and its creamy texture and vibrant flavor make it a good choice for everything from appetizers to main dishes. This is an easy guacamole recipe (with no tomatoes) with a depth of flavor.

I have been making Guacamole for a very long time. It is simple, quick, and quite delicious all by itself! I usually have all of the ingredients on hand for this recipe. Avocados are always on my grocery list, and I try my best to have a few in my refrigerator at all times.

Fresh and Flavorful: The fresh ingredients make this dish flavorful with ripe avocados, zesty lime juice, and fragrant cilantro. A symphony of flavors that’s bursting with freshness.

Versatile and Customizable: Guacamole can be served as a dip, a topping for tacos, or a spread on a wrap. You also control the heat by adjusting the amount of jalapenos you add.

How To Choose The Best Avocados

The key to making this homemade guacamole recipe is using the perfect avocado. Try to find ripe Hass avocados that yield with a gentle squeeze. Depending on the variety, they may change color from bright green to a darker shade. Ripe avocados typically have dark green to almost black skin. For best results, avoid mushy avocados or ones with mushy brown spots.  If the avocado feels very firm, it is likely underripe, and if it feels overly soft or mushy, it may be overripe. Unripe avocados are hard and do not taste good. Haas avocados are my favorite and my personal preference.
