Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix follow package directions
  • 2-3 cups Strawberry Pie Filling 1-2 cans OR Homemade Pie Filling
  • 1 8 ounce cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 8 ounce Cool Whip

Instructions

  • Bake cake according to package directions. Cool. Cut into 1 inch squares. Set aside.
  • While the cake is baking, make the Homemade Strawberry Pie Filling (if desired) or use 1-2 cans of Pie Filling. Allow pie filling to cool completely.
  • Using a stand mixer, combine cream cheese and powdered sugar. Beat until smooth. Fold in Cool Whip. Set aside.
  • To assemble the Layered Strawberry Cheesecake Bowl: In a trifle dish or large bowl, place half of the cake squares in the bottom of the dish. Top the cake with half of the cream cheese mixture. Top the cream cheese mixture with one cup of the pie filling. Repeat layers.
  • Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. This is better if you can allow 4-6 hours to chill.

Notes

Notes: If you decide to make homemade pie filling, you will NOT need to use all of it--unless, of course, you want to. No judging here! I like pie filling, so I chose to use more than I actually needed. The choice is yours. :) Leftover pie filling is awesome on bagels for breakfast.
