Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup quick oats uncooked
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • 8oz. mushrooms sliced
  • 2 (.75 oz.) packages brown gravy mix enough to equal 2 cups of gravy when mixed

Instructions

  • Mix gravy according to package directions. Set aside.
  • Combine ground beef, egg, oats, onion soup, and Worcestershire sauce in a large mixing bowl. (I mix this up with my hands) Make into about 6-8 hamburgers. Heat oil in a skillet and brown beef on both sides about 2 minutes each side. Remove to a plate.
  • Add onions and mushrooms in the same skillet with leftover oil and drippings from the hamburger. Cook for 7-10 minutes.
  • Add gravy to the skillet with the mushrooms and onions and bring to a boil. Add hamburgers back to the skillet, turn the heat to low, and let cook for about 15 minutes or until doneness desired. (My burgers were large and thick. However, I like them pink in the middle, so my time may differ from your time). Serve with mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, or rice with gravy over the top.
