Ingredients

  • 1 family pack cubed steak I used 8 pieces
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper

Instructions

  • Combine buttermilk, eggs, and hot sauce in a bowl and mix well.
  • Add the cubed steak making sure it's completely submerged in the buttermilk. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours if you have time. If not, no worries, continue on with the recipe and it will still be great.
  • In a bowl or large container, mix together flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne. **If you like it spicier, add more seasonings. You may also need more flour so adjust as needed.
  • Take the cubed steaks out of the refrigerator (if you did this step). Dip steaks one at a time in flour mixture, coating both sides, then back again in marinade mixture and again in flour mixture.
  • Place on a baking sheet in a single layer while the oil heats.
  • Add oil to a cast iron skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, fry each steak on both sides until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels. If desired, place on a parchment covered baking sheet and place in the oven to keep warm while you finish cooking the steaks.
