Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • ¼-½ cup water
  • 1 (15oz.) can beef broth or beef stock
  • ½ teaspoon each garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper

Instructions

  • Make the roux: Add butter to a hot skillet and melt. Add flour and seasonings and stir for about 2 minutes continuously until a roux is formed.
  • Add beef broth and water: Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring vigorously with a whisk. This will help prevent lumps. Once smooth and lump-free, add the water.
  • Thicken: Let the gravy boil until thick and smooth, about 3 minutes. Taste and season more if desired.
