Ingredients

Filling

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 8 cups peaches sliced
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 3 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons corn starch

Crust / Topping

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 sticks butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  • Prepare Baking Dish: Place 2 tablespoons of butter in a 13" x 9" casserole dish. Put the dish in the preheated oven and allow the butter to melt.
  • Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, combine the filling ingredients.  Mix well to coat the peaches evenly with the sugar mixture.
  • Bake Filling: Pour the peach filling mixture into the casserole dish over the melted butter. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Prepare Crust/Topping: While the filling is baking, prepare the crust/topping. In a separate bowl, mix together the crust ingredients. Mix until the ingredients are well combined, and the mixture resembles a dough-like batter.
  • Assemble Cobbler: After 15 minutes of baking, remove the casserole dish from the oven. Spread the crust/topping mixture evenly over the partially baked peach filling. You can use your fingers to sprinkle the mixture on top; it doesn’t need to be perfect.
  • Continue Baking: Return the casserole dish to the oven and bake for an additional bake time of 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
  • Let Cool: Once the cobbler is finished baking, remove it from the oven and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes to cool slightly.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Serve the Southern Peach Cobbler warm, either on its own or topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy the delicious flavors of this classic dessert!
