This Easy Southern Vinegar Coleslaw Recipe is a delicious no mayo coleslaw made with bagged coleslaw mix, apple cider vinegar, oil, and simple seasonings. The perfect make-ahead BBQ side dish.

Ingredients

pre-shredded coleslaw mix

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Apple Cider Vinegar

tablespoon
salt and pepper

tablespoons
sugar
Instructions
In a large bowl, whisk together oil, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. Whisk until sugar is dissolved.
Add slaw mix and toss until well combined.
Let stand for at least 10 minutes or refrigerate overnight. It is better if you can make a day ahead and refrigerate until you are ready to serve.

Recipe Variations
Add Red Onion:
Thinly sliced red onion adds color and crunch.
Add Bell Pepper:
Green, red, or yellow bell pepper adds color and crunch.
Add Jalapeno:
Diced jalapeno adds a kick of heat.
Add More Sugar:
Increase the sugar by a tablespoon.
Add Celery Seed:
Stir in 1 teaspoon celery seed for classic deli-style flavor.
Recipe Tips
Make it a day ahead whenever possible. The cabbage absorbs the dressing and develops even more flavor overnight.
Toss again before serving.
Keep refrigerated.
