This is my very first video.    Be KIND. 🙂   It’s pretty raw and I know I did not have the camera turned the correct way… I am learning.           We all have to start somewhere!  🙂

Farm Day Friday is a fun page where I post pictures of animals, events, activities, and happenings on our farm. This is just a page for me to share pictures, tips, ideas, and fun times with you. Welcome to my Home at Cedar Springs Farm!

This first video was a great “practice” for me. I hope to improve greatly with the more videos I make.

Feeding cows
If you have livestock, then you are well aware of feeding them all year long. It doesn’t matter if it’s hot, dry, wet, or cold they have to eat. And they depend on you to feed them.

My husband is a hay farmer. Meaning he has several hayfields that he cuts and bales in the summer. The hay is stored in a barn and kept till the winter months. This hay is fed to our animals and we sell to other farmers in our area.

We round roll most of our hay. It is easier for us to bale and store the round rolls versus the square bales.

Cows are Messy Eaters
When feeding the cows and horses, we set the rolls in the pasture and place a hay ring around it. This helps reduce waste. Cows are messy and will waste a lot of hay. Once the hay gets wet on the bottom, they don’t like to eat it. They usually trample it into the ground or will lay on it for a softer bed.

Here are a few pictures of our cows.
