How Do You Make An Easy Marinade For Steaks?
- Add steaks to a large bowl, a deep pan, or a zip-top bag.
- Whisk together all ingredients (except butter) and pour over steaks.
- Marinate for several hours or overnight in the fridge.
- Grill as desired. Add a slice of butter (optional) to the top of each hot steak.
What is the Best Steak for Marinating?
This marinade is perfect for any cut of meat. I like Ribeye steaks, but I have used this marinade on Sirloin, New York Strips, and T-Bones.
How Long Should Steak Be Marinated?
Steaks should be marinated for at least 30 minutes up to 10 hours in the refrigerator. After this point, the acid in the marinade begins to break down the meat.
What Are the Essential Ingredients to a Good Marinade?
Oil– Oil coats the meat, provides a base, and keeps it from drying out.
Acid– Tenderizes the meat.
Seasonings– Italian Seasoning is full of flavors that get soaked into the steak. Salt and pepper are always in my marinades.
Soy Sauce and Worcestershire Sauce – These two sauces are full of flavor and great for seasoning and marinating meats.
Tips and Variations
This is genuinely an easy marinade for steaks. These ingredients are usually in my pantry and refrigerator and are straightforward.
- Use a low sodium soy sauce to cut down on salt.
- Use minced garlic for added flavor.
- Substitute the lemon for lime if desired.
- Use “dry” Italian Seasoning. It is found next to the salad dressings.
- Steak marinade is perfect for all cuts of meat, especially the tougher cuts.
- Discard any leftover marinade.
