Is Corn Pudding and Corn Casserole The Same?

Although corn pudding and corn casserole are similar, there can be slight differences in the ingredients and textures. Corn casserole often includes a combination of whole-kernel corn, cream-style corn, cornbread mix, butter, sour cream, and additional ingredients like cheese or jalapenos. The texture is typically denser and more casserole-like, with a structure that holds together when scooped. Corn pudding is known for having a creamier and more custard-like texture compared to corn casserole. It may include ingredients like eggs, milk, and sugar and can be slightly sweeter than corn casserole, giving it the smoother consistency of a savory pudding. Both dishes are beloved comfort foods and are quite delicious.

Whole Kernel Corn and Creamed Corn: The texture and sweetness of the corn make this dish delicious. I use canned corn for convenience, but you could opt for frozen or fresh corn.

Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix– One small box of Jiffy mix makes this dish super easy and gives it a delicious flavor. The Jiffy mix serves as the base for this casserole, giving it a fluffy and flavorful texture.

Butter – I usually use salted butter, but unsalted butter will work just fine. Use melted butter for easier incorporation into the mixture.

Sour Cream– Sour cream adds richness and tanginess to the corn casserole and contributes to the overall texture of the dish.

Jalapeno– Adds a little kick of heat and a burst of flavor to the dish. Not a fan? Leave it out.

Cheddar Cheese– Use cheddar cheese or your favorite. Some other choices might be Monterey Jack, Sharp Cheddar Cheese, or Pepper Jack.
