How to Store Leftovers

Leftovers are great the next day. Store all leftover cheesy casserole in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Depending on how much is left in the casserole dish after the meal, I have wrapped the dish in aluminum foil and placed it in the refrigerator. Reheat in the microwave until hot.

FAQs

Some casseroles are covered while baking; this casserole is baked uncovered.

Of course, you can swap out the cheeses for this topping. Cheddar, Sharp Cheddar, Colby Jack, and Mexican Blend are some excellent choices.

You can use the pre-shredded cheese packages, and they will work fine. Pre-shredded cheeses are coated with an anti-caking agent, which causes it not to melt, as well as hand-shredded cheese. If possible, shred your own; it will melt better.
