Oreo Cookie Balls
Oreo balls are the perfect little bite-sized treats you could eat. There are only three ingredients in these tiny treats, and they are super easy to make and incredibly delicious. Oreo cookies, cream cheese, and chocolate (almond bark)–what’s not to love?
Oreo Balls always seem to disappear fast when served at a party. They are the perfect size to just pop into your mouth.
You will need a little self-control with these balls. They are so sweet, chocolaty, creamy, and irresistible. Before you know it, you’ve devoured 3-4 of these in one sitting. Not that I have done that before…
If you’ve never made any kind of dessert balls, then this recipe is the perfect one to start with. It is simple, straightforward, and comes together with little effort. Oreo cookies and cream cheese–I mean, come on!! It’s a mouth full of total goodness! Be sure to check out my Peanut Butter Balls for another awesome recipe.
Ingredients Needed for Oreo Balls
Oreo Cookies– Regular, Double Stuffed, or Triple Stuffed any of these will work just fine. No matter your choice, they are all equally delicious.
Cream Cheese– Room temperature cream cheese is the only way to mix these balls. I usually take the cream cheese out of the refrigerator at least 30 minutes to an hour before I start on these balls. Don’t go low fat with the cream cheese. Use the good stuff here. π
Almond Bark– In my opinion, the best meltable chocolate! This melts easily and is perfect for these Oreo balls.
Other Chocolates For Dipping
There are several varieties of chocolates to choose from in the baking aisle. I only use the Almond Bark for this recipe, but the choice is yours.
Wilton Candy Melts
Melting Wafers
Chocolate Chips
Almond Bark
For the record: Before I get blasted for saying “chocolate” instead of “almond bark” in this recipe, I used Almond Bark. Is Almond Bark real chocolate? Well–No, it’s not. It does not contain cocoa or chocolate liquor. Almond Bark is a mixture of flavors and coloring. In my opinion, it’s the best and easiest melting “chocolate” for this recipe. Feel free to swap out the Almond Bark for “real” chocolate if so desired. In this post, I swap out the terms chocolate and almond bark. So, just a heads up!! π
How to Make Oreo Balls
Crush: Crush the Oreo Cookies. I like to place all of the cookies in a food processor and process them until they are crumbs. Suppose you don’t have a food processor, no worries. Place all cookies in a zip-top bag and crush until crumbs. Pour into a medium-sized bowl.
Add and Mix: Add the cream cheese and mix well. Only room temperature cream cheese will work.
Scoop: Using a cookie scoop, make balls and place on a baking sheet lined with wax/parchment paper. You may want to roll these as well to get a round shape.
Freeze: Place in the freezer for about 15 minutes before you dip these in chocolate. It seems to keep the balls from crumbling.
Melt: Melt Almond Bark according to package directions.
Dip: Dip each ball into the chocolate and place it back onto the wax/parchment paper. You will need to work quickly during this process.
Allow the chocolate to set up. You can place them in the refrigerator to speed up the process.
Store: Place in a tightly covered container and store in the refrigerator.
Tips for Making the Perfect Oreo Balls
Make sure cream cheese is soft and at room temperature before mixing.
Use a cookie scoop for uniform balls.
Freeze the balls before you dip them in the chocolate.
Roll out all of the balls before you melt the chocolate. You will have to work quickly during this process.
Use the chocolate of your choice, either white or dark. I like to use both.
I like to use a fork for dipping. This can be really messy, but totally worth it. Place the ball on top of the fork and dip in chocolate. Use a toothpick for sliding the balls off of the fork onto the wax paper.
Store the balls in the refrigerator.
