🛒 Ingredients Needed
These steak cubes with garlic butter use a handful of simple ingredients to create a smooth, savory sauce perfect for dinner. The complete ingredients and amounts are included in the printable recipe card below.

- Sirloin Steak: Sirloin is great and my favorite cut of meat, but you could use any cut, such as ribeye, NY strip, or chuck steak. This recipe is fantastic for cheaper cuts since they cook low and slow in the crockpot.
- Mushrooms: Adds flavor and texture. If you’re not a fan of mushrooms, feel free to leave them out.
- Garlic: For convenience, I prefer to use minced garlic from a jar. This gives the steak a rich, savory taste.
- Au Jus Gravy Mix: Helps to create a silky sauce.
- Onion Soup Mix: Adds more seasonings and pairs with the beefy flavor.
- Butter: It helps create a rich sauce, and everything is better with butter.
- Beef Broth: Keeps the steak tender and juicy and aids in making gravy.

- Make into a Freezer Meal: Place all of the ingredients into a freezer-safe bag and freeze. Thaw it in the refrigerator overnight, place it in your crockpot, and cook according to the instructions.

📋 How to Make Crock Pot Steak Bites
Making this recipe is simple and requires just a few steps. The recipe card below provides complete step-by-step instructions.

Step 1: First, grab your steak and cut it into bite-sized pieces—about an inch each. If you see any tough gristle or extra fat, go ahead and toss that.

Step 2: Add your steak pieces to the bottom of your slow cooker.

Step 3: Sprinkle those mushrooms right on top—don’t worry, they’ll cook down and soak up all the flavor.

Step 4: Now for the good stuff—add the minced garlic, onion soup mix, and au jus mix, making sure to distribute them evenly. Then, take your butter and dot it over the top. This is what’s going to make everything rich and delicious.

Step 5: Finally, pour in the beef broth, pop the lid on, and let your crockpot work its magic. Set it on low for 4-6 hours if you have time, or crank it up to high for 3-4 hours if you’re in a hurry.

Step 6: When it’s done, serve it over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles—whatever makes you happy. Grab a fork and dig in!
🍽 How to Serve This Dish
These are a few of my favorites for serving these easy crock pot steak tips.
- Over Mashed Potatoes: The creamy potatoes soak up all of the garlic butter sauce, with plenty to go around. Steak bites and potatoes are the perfect combination.
- Over Rice or Egg Noodles: Rice or noodles are super options for this steak bites recipe.
- Over Thick Bread or a Hoagie Roll: The bread or hoagie roll will soak up all the juices and make a delightful sandwich. Grab some paper towels. It might be messy, but it’s worth it!
🧺 How to Store Leftovers
Leftover slow cooker garlic steak bites are delicious and reheat well.
- Refrigerate: Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
- Freeze: Freeze in a sealed bag or container for up to 3 months.
- Reheat: Warm in a skillet over low heat or microwave until warm, adding a splash of beef broth or water if needed.
