🛒Recipe Ingredients
The ingredients list is simple and requires only five ingredients. This is a recipe using frozen meatballs as a shortcut. Please see the printable recipe card below for the exact ingredient amounts.

Frozen Meatballs – I love to save time in the kitchen, and using frozen meatballs is a big help. I buy the family pack of fully cooked frozen meatballs. There are usually close to 50 in a package. Of course, you can buy a smaller package, but leftovers are fantastic. Use any flavor you like. I have used turkey, Italian, and Classic Homestyle Meatballs.
Gravy Packet – I buy the dry gravy mix that makes two cups. It’s a simple seasoning mix that creates a delicious base for the meatballs. Turkey gravy, brown gravy, or beef gravy works great.
Water – Water is needed to mix the dry gravy mix.
Cream of Mushroom Soup – This adds a creamy texture to the gravy and helps to coat the meatballs. Be sure to try my Creamy Mushroom Rice Recipe, which is made with cream of mushroom soup.
Sliced Mushrooms – I use canned mushrooms for convenience, but if I have fresh mushrooms, I use them for this recipe. They are optional, and you can leave them out.
📋Recipe Substitutions
- If desired, you can make homemade classic meatballs instead of frozen meatballs.
- Substitute the cream of mushroom soup for the cream of chicken.
- Use the brown gravy mix you like the best, or make brown gravy from scratch.
- Feel free to use fresh mushrooms instead of canned mushrooms. Some good choices might be baby portobello mushrooms, white button mushrooms, or baby bellas.
- Mix beef broth with the dry gravy blend instead of water.

🥣How To Serve
Slow Cooker Salisbury steak meatballs are an easy dinner for any night of the week. This hot dish is delicious, whether served over buttery egg noodles, white rice, or creamy mashed potatoes. Add a slice of easy, homemade cheesy garlic bread to soak up every last drop.
🧺Storage Tips and Reheating
Storage: Allow the meatballs to cool completely and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
Reheat: Heat in a skillet over medium heat on the stovetop until warm throughout. I usually add a splash of water or beef broth to keep the gravy from sticking while the meatballs heat. OR reheat in the microwave for a minute or so until warm throughout. You may need to add a bit of beef broth if the gravy is too thick.
