Ingredients Needed for Chicken Alfredo with Broccoli

The great thing about this dish is it only requires very few ingredients.

Chicken Broccoli Fettuccine Alfredo

Chicken: You could certainly cut the time down by using a rotisserie chicken if so desired. I also like to cook extra chicken and freeze it for faster dinner prep. Chicken tenders only take a few minutes to cook in the skillet, so they are always my go-to chicken for this recipe.

Oil– just a little will do.

Salt and Pepper– simple seasonings are the best.

Fettuccine Noodles – Use your favorite brand for this recipe. Or, if you like, make your noodles from scratch.

Broccoli –frozen or fresh- This is a great way to use fresh broccoli from the garden. I also keep frozen broccoli on hand.

Fettuccine Sauce: There are some fantastic tasting jarred sauces today. They are fast and convenient for use in this recipe. At times I make my own, but the jarred sauces are good choices too. If time allows, make your own from scratch.

Minced Garlic— more flavor.

How to Make Chicken Broccoli Alfredo Recipe

  • Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Once it comes to a boil, add a pinch of salt and the pasta. Cook according to package instructions. Add the broccoli florets in the last 3 minutes of the cooking time.
  • While the water is coming to a boil, start the chicken. Heat a large skillet with 2 tbsp oil.
  • Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Place in a large skillet and season with salt, pepper, and garlic. Cook the chicken until done over medium heat for approximately 8-10 minutes.
  • Add the jars of alfredo sauce to the same skillet with the chicken, heat slowly over low heat, and bring to a simmer.
  • Drain the pasta and broccoli. Add to the chicken and Alfredo sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta. Serve with grated Parmesan, a side salad, or garlic bread.

Chicken Broccoli Fettuccine Alfredo with Jarred Sauce

You can make the alfredo sauce from scratch if you so desire, but this recipe uses jarred sauce. It’s convenient, fast, and tasty. I like to keep several jars on hand for quick dinner nights.

Tools Needed

Pasta Pot – a big pot is needed for boiling the noodles and cooking the broccoli.

Skillet– a large skillet is used to hold all of the chicken broccoli fettuccine alfredo. Everything is combined into one pot and mixed.

Expert Tips and Variations

I use skinless chicken tenders for this recipe because they cook fast. This recipe will also work with boneless chicken breast, a rotisserie chicken, boiled chicken, or really any cooked and chopped chicken.

Broccoli needs to be cooked before it is added to the skillet with the chicken, noodles, and sauce. To cut down on extra pots to wash, I like to drop the broccoli into the same pot with the noodles during the last 3 minutes of cooking.

Use a good brand of jarred alfredo sauce. There are several good choices to be found at your local grocery store. If you like, make some from scratch.

Don’t overcook your pasta. Cook it al dente. It will soften even more after it’s combined with the sauce.

Storage Tips

Store leftovers in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. Pack some for lunch the next day and be the envy of the table.

Made this easy meal for dinner last night and really enjoyed it! I added some garlic and onion powder to the sauce, as you suggested, but it really made a difference, as we find sauces from a jar lacking in flavour sometimes! Overall, great effortless family recipe! Thanks 🙂

I just recently got my kids to fall in love with fettuccine alfredo! This recipe is perfect though because I can sneak some broccoli in too and they won’t mind.
