The brownies are fudgy and chocolatey and oh so good. Yes, you could eat the brownies on their own, but mix them in with some chocolate pudding, sweetened condensed milk, whipped topping and a chocolate candy bar and you have one heavenly dessert!

What is a Trifle Dessert?

A trifle dessert is simply a layered dessert. This might consist of a cake layered with fruit, a brownie layered with pudding, or a sponge cake layered with whipped topping. The possibilities are quite endless. There are so many varieties of trifles, and they are all delicious and perfect for feeding a crowd.

Trifles are usually made in clear glass containers to see all of the layers of cake, pudding, fruit, whipped topping, and any toppings you desire. A trifle bowl is just a way to showcase those beautiful layers of goodness.

How To Make Chocolate Brownie Trifle

Bake up a batch of your favorite brownies. You can make the brownies from scratch or use a box. If you would like a delicious Homemade Chocolate Brownie recipe, check out this link for another heavenly dessert. Combine the pudding, water, and condensed milk and mix until combined and smooth and then fold in the whipped topping. In a trifle bowl, layer half of the brownies, half of the pudding mixture, and half of the container of whipped topping. Repeat layers ending with the whipped topping. Top with your favorite chocolate bar. You could serve immediately, but it is much better if you can chill it in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

I know! You just made this awesome dessert, and now you want me to chill it in the refrigerator!! What? But I promise you; it is so worth the wait! The pudding mixture will thicken and everything will be nice and cold.

Can You Make This Dessert Ahead of Time?

Yes, you can certainly make this trifle dessert a day in advance.
This will also allow all of the fruits and juices or pudding and brownies to mix with the layers. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

How to Serve a Trifle Dessert

The best and only way to serve this dessert is with a big spoon. 🙂 Let everyone dig in and scoop all of those layers into a bowl.
Another option may be to make individual trifle servings. You might decide to use clear bowls and assemble desserts for all of your guests. This would be perfect for a dinner party or holiday gathering. It would make for a show stopping display on a table.

Trifle Tips and Variations

*Use a carrot cake and Cream Cheese frosting for a trifle dessert
*Make a strawberry dessert in a trifle bowl

  2. O M G ! This looks to die for! I cant believe it is so simple to make. I would however make a slight change….that’s well, I am a chocoholic so I would actually add more chocolate. I would add a chocolate bar inbetween the layer of the pudding and the whipped cream! 🙂 That’s just me though!

We live in the UK and make traditional fruit and custard trifles often, but I’ve never made one with brownies and condensed milk, so was really intrigued by this recipe! And it turned out great! Very decadent and sweet, and super easy to make! Children in the family are your biggest fans now 😀
